Our techs are the engine that keeps us moving; let’s foster a space that values them and enhances their productivity.
An insightful session at MSPGeekCon last week by Kyle Christensen was all about deciphering the MSP business model. His explanation was like flipping on a light switch. He underlined the value of automation, documentation, and even the power of mentoring. Let’s not forget, in the MSP world, our techs are the engine that keeps us moving. They are the crucial cogs in our MSP wheel. Here’s to fostering a space that values them and aids their productivity and efficiency.Â
After 20 years in IT, joining MSPGeek and attending MSPGeekCon transformed my understanding of the MSP business model, igniting my passion and inspiring me to bring valuable insights back to my team.
I’ve been in IT on and off for the past 20 years or so, but the last 8 years have been the most impactful in my career, the last 5 with my current MSP. I have learned a lot when it comes to the tech side of things but have also been focusing on the business side of it as well since back in 2020, I was promoted to management. I’ve always had a passion for this line of work and seeing the positive results and feedback from my colleagues and our clients have been my motivation to keep pushing forward. In 2022 I came across MSPGeek and joined the group. Everyone I’ve come across has been awesome, willing to help and answer questions, and this is when I realized I just met the community. I’ve never attended any IT conference, or any conference, in the past.Â
Once MSPGeek announced MSPGeekCon, I knew I had to be there. With the different sessions, the vendors, and getting to meet everyone who attended, gave me so much valuable information I was able to bring back home to my colleagues. With the first session alone, I was able to get a better understanding of the business side of an MSP and why we as a company do things the way we do. It was also very awesome that I got to meet people that I’ve been following online, some for years. I can’t wait for #MSPGeekCon2024!Â
Attending MSPGeekCon was a game-changer; it transformed my understanding of MSP tools and created a priceless opportunity for collaboration and problem-solving with fellow Geeks.
Attending MSPGeekCon was a game-changer for me! Being responsible for so many MSP tools is no easy feat, and you shouldn’t have to navigate it alone. Unlike other tech conferences that just try to sell you stuff, this one’s all about getting the most out of the MSP tools we already use. The sessions were super practical, led by speakers who are true titans of the industry. Their insights and tips have already made a big difference in my work.Â
What I loved most was the chance to bounce ideas off other Geeks who totally get the MSP life and the challenges we face. It’s like a think tank where everyone’s in the same boat, sharing tricks and scripts, and solving problems together. It’s not just a conference, it’s a gathering of MSP wizards! The online MSPGeek community is fantastic, but the face-to-face interactions were priceless. This is the one conference you don’t want to miss!Â
MSPGeekCon transformed my perception of my role, showing me that I am more than just a help desk technician; I have purpose and value, and I am inspired to empower others in our community.
MSP Geekcon was really a transformative experience for me. Â When I initially got to MSP Geekcon, I merely saw myself as just a help desk technician, introducing myself without realizing how limiting my mind was. The community at MSP Geekcon, being unfamiliar with my background, graciously called me out on it every time to illuminate my value, regardless of the tier/role I was in at my company.Â
I never imagined I’d have the opportunity to meet so many inspiring speakers, technicians and managers from around the world, gathered in one place. It’s really a breath of fresh air to go into an environment where everyone roots for your success, without knowing you personally.Â
Since attending, I’ve grown significantly more confident as a technician. I was given tips, tools and stories that were motivating and inspiring to encourage others to embrace their role as a technician.Â
Through MSP Geekcon, I’ve come to understand that I’m more than just a help desk technician. I have purpose and significance in my role. Despite inevitable mistakes and stumbles along the way, I’ve gained the certainty that I have a promising future in this industry. I would hope that I can push and inspire others the way that MSP Geekcon inspired me.Â
